Here is a picture of my new hamster

Well, she's stopped swearing and weeing on people. And, as any fule kno, removing their own droppings and showering the results around is one of their favourite pastimes, and Tootsie does not disappoint on this front. She also has a penchant for piling up woodshavings at one end of her cage so she can burrow into the resulting pile, most of which ends up on the kitchen floor on account of falling out through the cage bars.

Looks like she'll be going into the storage crate where my previous hamsters have lived sooner rather than later.

Sweet though! Very sweet - those dear little hands and she is such a lovely colour, like a chocolate hamster.

She's a cutey alright - 'Tootsie' is an unusual name, Cathy, where did you get that from?

'Tootsie', as well as being a cute name, is the technical term applied to a big toe affected by gout caused by much too much beer drinking in certain permanently intoxicated individuals. I know you've never seen one like this, Ger, being a sober individual, but they do cause problems. Like this hamster, they have been known to swear and shout a lot when exposed to the public. Still a good name though.

Aha, Cathy - not named after the film of the same name with Dustin Hoffman then. So glad to hear it - the thought of a cross dressing hamster would be too much to bear!
The reference to drinking and gout leaves me totally puzzled though...

Very Sweet - but soon will come the midnight rattle of the cage bars being banged in protest over her food rations, followed by the ninja like "bite the hand that feeds you" power attack.

Has she started the impossible "hanging over a large precipice waiting for certain death" mode yet?

Anticipating trouble on this front, Hypervox, Tootsie has already been transferred to the storage crate (i.e. with no bars) which my previous hamsters have frequented. Strangely, although willing to swear and spit, she has never attempted to bite me! And until it's easier to handle her without she panics, she's not being left near any precipee-pees ...
