Illustration Friday - Climbing


Selwyn was convinced that Nutbrown was the lady for him. But she just needed a little, erm, adjustment. Starting with her hair. "You ought to get your hair cut short", he said. "It would give you style - I can imagine you with a hairstyle a bit like a helmet ..."


"... like this Roman jobbie. Or maybe this doesn't go far enough ..."

Nutbrown's hairstyle was beginning to resemble Selwyn's own. He was getting excited about this. His teeth even began to dance a little ...


Finally Selwyn got so excited that he had to go and have a cold shower. Nutbrown's hare, Birkin, saved the day by climbing on top of her head, demonstrating that a woman's hare truly is her crowning glory.

You're simply not properly dressed without one of these ...



These are the brainchild of master (or should I say mistress) illustrator Sarah Miskelly, and are excellent for holding random bits of clothing together - and you can't take any risks with THAT, the weather being what it is right now - or merely for decoration - waving your brightly coloured plumes in the breeze to impress members of the opposite sex.

This is the White Horse of Uffington, as perceived by the artist-in-residence at the Palace. Actually, it's not really white - in this case a pale shade of blue - but the 'Pale Horse of Uffington' lacks that certain je ne sais quoi ...
